Keyboard & bump bar
The board is fully keyboard-driven, so a cook with floury hands never has to touch the glass. Press ? on any board to pop up this list on screen.
What’s a bump bar?
Section titled “What’s a bump bar?”A bump bar is a small, wipe-clean keypad that sits by the pass. It’s just a programmable keyboard — each of its buttons is set to send one of the keys below. So everything a bump bar does, a normal keyboard does too; program the bar’s buttons to match the keys here and it drives the screen with no menus and no touchscreen.
The keys

| Enter | Bump — advance the ticket down the line, or dispatch it at the pass |
| Space | Tick the focused item off (or back on) |
| Backspace | Undo — bring back the last ticket that left, or un-fire the last course |
| R | Recall screen — type an order number to recall it |
| P | Priority — flag the focused ticket to the front |
| F | Fire — release the focused ticket’s next held course |
| S | Send the focused ticket to another station (or recall it home) |
| 1 – 9 | Jump to a ticket — press the same number twice to bump it |
| O | Open the focused ticket full screen (these keys work there too; O or Esc closes it) |

A couple of handy habits
Section titled “A couple of handy habits”- Bump by number, fast. Press a ticket’s number to jump to it, then the same number again to bump it — e.g.
33. As long as the second press is within about a second, it bumps. - Undo is one key. Backspace always brings back the most recent thing that left this screen, whatever it was — a bump, a course you fired, or a ticket you sent away. You don’t have to remember which.
- Typing is safe. While you’re in a text box (like Settings, or the recall search), these shortcuts pause, so you can type an order number without bumping anything.
