Settings

Tap the gear icon in the top-right of the board to open KDS Configuration. The station’s name shows under the title. Change anything you like, then tap Done to go back — changes apply straight away and only affect this screen.

Display

Section titled “Display”
  • Play sound on new orders — a chime when a new order arrives. (The speaker icon in the board header toggles the same thing on the fly.)
  • Show categories — group a ticket’s items under category headings like Mains and Sides.
  • Column wrapping — “Fill a column top-to-bottom before starting the next one.” Off, cards fill left-to-right and the page scrolls down; on, cards fill a column and the board scrolls sideways. Pick whichever suits your monitor.
  • Today’s orders only — hide anything not from today.
  • Keep completed orders for — how long a bumped order stays recallable in the Recently bumped strip. Choose from 15 minutes up to 1 day.

View

“What this screen shows.”

  • Order board — tickets as they arrive. The normal kitchen view.
  • All-day — every item grouped by category (a production count), rather than per-order tickets. Handy for a prep station or a “how many steaks tonight” screen. When All-day is selected, a Grouping option appears: Merged totals (“6× Ribeye”) or One per order (“2× · 1× · 3×”).

Modifiers

How added and removed options read on a ticket (added always shows green, removed always red):

  • Signs — “+ Cheese” / “− Pickles”.
  • Words — “Cheese” / “No Pickles”.

Timer escalation

“How long before a ticket’s timer changes colour.” Every ticket carries a timer that shifts colour as it ages so late orders stand out:

  • On time (green) — under the warn time.
  • Warn after (amber) — set the minutes with the − / + stepper (1–60).
  • Late after (red) — set the minutes with the − / + stepper (2–120, always kept above the warn time).

A Reset button appears once you’ve changed these, to put them back to the 5 / 10 minute defaults.

Order types shown

Tap the chips to choose which order types (Dine-in, Takeaway, and so on) appear on this screen. Turn one off and those orders won’t show here.

Course firing

Read-only — shown only if your menu uses courses. Each course is tagged Held or Auto-fire.

Printer locations routed here

“An order line appears on this screen when its item belongs to one of these.” This is what decides which items land on this station. Tap the chips to add or remove locations. (Usually set once when the station is created — change it only if you’re re-routing the kitchen.)

Excluded registers

“Lines sent from these registers are hidden here.” Use this to keep a particular till’s orders off this screen.

About

Section titled “About”

Read-only details for support: the app Version, Environment, and this screen’s Device ID. If a screen ever shows up as “Unrecognised value” in the admin portal, the Device ID here is what support will ask for.

Danger zone

Section titled “Danger zone”
  • Evict data — “Drops this device’s local copy. It re-syncs from the server — the orders themselves are not deleted.” A safe reset if a screen looks out of step with the others. Tap Evict; the board rebuilds from the server.
  • Log out — signs this screen out. The station stays assigned to it, ready for the next person to sign in.
